There is a new OCS achievement within SRPT!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Brandi Wood, PT, DPT, OCS!!!!!

Brandi Wood, PT, DPT, OCS has new credentials behind her name! Brandi is a part-owner of Sports Rehab and Physical Therapy and clinic director at our Hico location.

Brandi has recently achieved her orthopedic clinical specialist certification through the American Board of Physical Therapists as of June of this year.

In 2010 Brandi received her bachelor's degree in Biology at Tarleton State University, she then earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at Hardin-Simmons University in 2012. Soon after graduating, Brandi became part of the team of physical therapists at SRPT in 2014, and since then she has helped the company grow.

Brandi believes in the core values SRPT strives to provide. When asked to give a description of how she felt about accomplishing this great achievement Brandi said, "One of our core values here at SRPT is to provide innovative and evidence-based services that generate excellent outcomes. That's exactly what the curriculum for this certification has allowed me to do and will continue to do."

To be able to sit for the orthopedic clinical specialist exam a physical therapist needs to show evidence of 2,000 hours of direct patient care, in the specialty area within the last 10 years, 500 of those hours have to be within the last 3 years. Brandi was well qualified to be able to sit for the exam.

The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties states that by gaining the orthopedic clinical specialist certification it "opens doors to professional growth. Reflects advanced specialist practice to patients as well as physicians." When asked about the recently added credentials to her name Brandi said, "More important than the additional letters behind my name is the knowledge gained just by going through the coursework for this certification. I know this will help me be a more innovative and competent PT." She has now become 1 of the 10% of the orthopedic board-certified specialists in physical therapy.

Brandi set this as one of her goals, and she is able to check this off the list. The SRPT team is very excited for Brandi and her recent accomplishment!! Great Job Brandi!!
