DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling is a procedure in which a PT inserts fine, solid needles, called filiform into a “trigger point”, an area in which a muscle is hardened, or “knotted”.

Dry needling can be used to provide treatment for a number of ailments, including:

  • Spinal Issues
  • Cramps
  • Whiplash
  • Migraines and Tension Headaches
  • Tendinitis
  • Joint Pain
  • And More

DRY NEEDLING

Functional dry needling, or FDN, is frequently used alongside other PT treatments in order to get the best results. The benefits of dry needling:

  1. Reduces Pain - improves muscle flexibility, which in turn can remove pressure from joints, and help to alleviate joint pain.
  2. Improves ROM - deactivates trigger points, releasing muscle tightness
  3. Improves muscle activation and recruitment -improves joint mechanics
  4. Stimulates healing - activates a natural inflammatory response, stimulating the production of protein and collagen in muscles
  5. Improves Circulation - deactivates trigger points that limit blood flow and the delivery of oxygen to muscles.
